Town of Princeton, Mass. – July 28, 2016
Executive Session Minutes - BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Executive Session
9:05 PM Selectmen took roll call vote in regular session and opened executive session. Nina reported that a recent version of the lease from WRSD still did not address water & sewer fees which the district pays to towns which have water and/or sewer—not Princeton. The district has—to date--paid for septic tank maintenance. The new, proposed lease would not even pay for that. The average annual cost-per-pupil for water and sewer comes to about $26 region-wide. The district currently pays Princeton $28,000/year for maintenance such as plowing and paving. The latest proposed lease also increases the threshold for the district covering maintenance costs from $25,000 to $35,000, over which it becomes a capital expenditure borne by the town. Jon F. suggested
instituting a safeguard to make sure preventative maintenance gets done, like a 30-day provision for back-billing the district if they neglect to do maintenance and Princeton does it.
Selectmen agreed to have Nina negotiate further with the payment to Princeton of $26/head to equalize the water/sewer payment that other towns receive.
9:30 PM Selectmen closed the executive session with Stan making a motion to adjourn, Jon seconded and in roll call vote they adjourned with Jon, Edith and Stan each saying “aye.”
Respectfully submitted, Marie N. Auger, administrative assistant
